Pitching your project idea - the breakdown

You believe in your idea and know it’s a game-changer in the making. Now it’s time to get others excited about it too!Β

Your final pitch is a chance to show off your skills to your mentors and industry experts πŸ™ŒΒ  in a short but punchy 2-5 minute VideoAsk presentation. ‍

Combine your project design skills and creativity with communication skills to convince people that your idea is worth investing in. To do this, you’ll need to communicate in a way that people from all different disciplines can understand – not just those in your field. Succinct, plain english and having clear talking points is key πŸ‘Œ

To learn more about mastering communication, head on over to our Fundamentals of Communication microprogram. This skills booster only takes 40 minutes to complete, but will give you all the tools you need to elevate your communication skills.

In the meantime, watch the video below for tips on delivering a short speech and what frameworks you can use....

Making your final pitch – practice makes perfect

‍

Pro tip ⭐️ Practice in front of a friend or family member for feedback. Ask them to describe your idea back to you – if they’re able to do that, you’ve done a great job πŸ™Œ

‍

Remember to establish your talking points first and if you do need to refer to a script, avoid sounding like you're reading a school essay. Try to keep your tone professional but engaging. Let your ideas shine by delivering them with confidence and conviction.Β

‍

Here are some of the things we’d like you to cover in your presentation.

  • What are your aims, objectives, and key deliverables?
  • Who will be involved in your project?
  • Who will benefit from your project and why?

‍

Reply to the VideoAsk below with your pitch - we can't wait to see what you've come up with!

Β

And that's it! You've done an amazing job! πŸ₯³ We'll be sending your presentation off for mentor feedback now. Please allow 7-10 days for a response, and keep an eye out for your microcredential in your inbox. πŸ‘€ πŸ†
