It’s time to push the boundaries and get creative. 

The world is rapidly evolving, and transport technology is having to evolve with it. The way we think about transport has to change.

But what about the future of public transport systems? How will they be impacted and shaped by AI in the future?

Well, the possibilities are endless – from robo-taxis and neural nets coming from Tesla, and traffic predictors to reduce congestion on our roads. You might like to draw inspiration from the video below.

Step 1: Get an idea of the areas that you might like to explore

In this work experience, you've considered systems operations in the context of rail. It's up to you whether you want to stick to railway systems or maybe look at other modes of transport, like planes, helicopters, or cars. Maybe you're interested in how signalling systems are being used by the defence force, or want to dive deeper into the projects being proposed by companies like Tesla.

For example, you might be interested in:

  • Optimising traffic light systems
  • GPS tracking
  • Traffic congestion solutions
  • AI operated train systems
  • Neural networks
  • Digital twins of entire train systems

You can focus on solutions that build upon existing transportation methods like rail and cars, or step into the future with predictions for what will come next.

Find your passion in this field and tell us about it.

Of course, we don't expect you to know all the technical aspects of how you would implement your idea!

The goal of this task is to inspire you to think outside the box and dream big, so that one day when you do acquire the technical knowledge, you have the curiosity and creativity to push the envelope and make change happen.
