Electrical Technician at Inland Rail

Inland Rail, a-once-in-a-generation project, is the backbone of a modern network for a modern nation. Our role is to lead the development of a safe, efficient, integrated transport system that keeps people and goods moving, connects communities, and shapes the future. 

Our Electrical Technicians are dynamic individuals that know how to work in a team and prioritise safety. They install, repair and maintain railways and rail equipment in a way that serves the community and keeps people safe every day. They know how to work within time constraints; identify issues and problem solve solutions; communicate with other train personnel and systems operators; and can keep calm when things go wrong. 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Undertake inductions and training as required within the workplace
  • Ensure compliance with all safety regulations
  • Investigate incidents and equipment failures
  • Conduct general repairs
  • Complete documentation such as maintenance records, logs, and field data reports.
  • Work capably both in a team and independently

Desired skills, qualifications, and experience:

  • Year 10-12 high school student
  • Confident in own ability to acquire new knowledge quickly and with limited supervision 
  • Willingness to learn new software to plan projects 
  • Good problem solving and critical thinking skills
  • Good self-organisation and time management skills
  • Good communication skills
