Self-awareness is the ability to understand our thoughts, actions and feelings. It can be something as small as realising that actually, you’re not that hungry and don’t need that extra slice of pizza, or noticing that you feel a bit ‘off’ today and taking a moment to stop and ask why. It can also be bigger realisations, like recognising that you’re in a career for the wrong reasons.
Fun fact: around 95% of people think they’re pretty self-aware. Ironically enough, researchers have found that only about 15% actually are. Let’s have a look at why it’s important to reflect on our self-awareness and stop living on autopilot.
